Jan. 15: Wind
Only two sites didn't score top marks on #30: Wind
They were the GM site on Kildare, and the property on EC Row and Walker. Every single other site scored full marks.
Here is how the scoring system worked:
The user access area should be free of downward draft from adjacent buildings or structures. Avoidance of north entrances which offer little winter sunlight, and exposure to cold northern winds. The site must also consider any required setbcks from existing wind farms.

It's unfortunate that one of the few environmental criteria in the site selection process inherently favours rural properties that won't be affected by downward wind draft.
On the other hand, those who have spent much time in the open air in the County will be well aware of how relentless the wind from the west often is. In winter, it's bitingly cold. This was not a factor in the scoring.
The reference to the direction of the entrance is a good one, though on a 60 acre rectangular site, the architects will have plenty of leeway. It's too early to see the site renderings, so it's impossible to tell how they are expecting to site the new hospital.
It is worth pointing out that the main access road for site N (CR42) is north facing. Site V (GEM), is south-facing, and site K (GM) is east or west facing.
The image below shows the site selectors' original scoring, before the consensus meeting that determined the final score shown above.
