This chart shows that the proposed hospital location does not improve access to acute healthcare for the population served.
Fewer people will be really close to the new hospital, and more people will be a lot further away.
Five times FEWER residents will enjoy really good access (under 5km). Where it's 1 in 3 today (30%), only 1 in 17 (6%) of us will be close to acute healthcare.
Instead:
- Almost 40% (up from 32%) of residents will travel 5-10 km.
- 31% of residents will travel 10-15 km, which is more than double than currently.
- 2 percentage points more (24%, up from 22%) residents will travel further than 15 km. This is mainly because the shorter travelling distances for Lakeshore and Essex residents will come at the expense of Wards 2 and 3. Both are more than 15 km from the County Rd 42 site. Ward 2 is home to some of Windsor's lowest income residents, so this is of great concern.
